  • Warm Blessings gets weekly volunteers

    Each first, third, and fifth Wednesday, the Hardin County Realty Association members volunteer at Warm Blessings Soup Kitchen. Prepared to serve the meal are a few of the members who volunteer to serve and clean up at the program, from left, Wanda Huffer, Katria Sanders, Veronica Francois, Gwen Avery, Steve Heartsill, and Trevon Duncan. Warm Blessings,  609 E. Dixie Hwy., Elizabethtown, serves a free meal Monday through Thursday at 5:30 p.m. to anyone who needs to stretch their food dollars.

    JOSHUA COLLINS AND DEEANN KEELIN

    DeeAnn Keelin and Joshua Collins, both of LaRue County, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Danny Keelin of Elizabethtown and Debra Keelin of Radcliff. She is a 2005 graduate of North Hardin High School and is employed at Kensington Manor in Elizabethtown.

    The prospective groom is the son of Joe Collins of Florida and Bonnie Collins of Elizabethtown. He is a 2002 graduate of Central Hardin High School and is retired from the Army.

  • City dispatchers recognized in proclamation

    ELIZABETHTOWN — Elizabethtown City Council and Mayor David Willmoth last week approved a proclamation recognizing emergency dispatchers as part of National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, which runs through April 17.

    Eight staff members operate Elizabethtown’s emergency dispatch center all day, every day.

    Coordinating city police and telephone traffic, those employees also dispatch Public Works and Gas Department workers from a communications center at police headquarters.

  • CKAG holds March meeting

    At the March 15 meeting of the Central Kentucky Art Guild, there were two artists voted as Artist of the Month. They will share the honor and their paintings will be hung at Cobblers Café in Elizabethtown. They are Martha “Marty” Hollenbach of Ekron for her painting “Carnival – Venice” and Sharon Milliner of Mount Washington for her painting “Moonflower”.

    The next meeting of the CKAG will be at 6:30 p.m., April 19 at Nolin RECC building on Ring Road.

  • Poe mobilized at Fort Dix

    POE. Army National Guard Pfc. DaRun A. Poe has been mobilized and activated at Fort Dix, N.J., in preparation for deployment to serve in support of either Operations Iraqi Freedom or Enduring Freedom. The soldier is a member of 2nd Battalion, 23rd Transportation Company in Richmond. Poe, a motor transport operator, has served in the military for three years. A 2003 graduate of Fort Knox High School, he is the son of James A. and Darlene B. Poe of Vine Grove.
