    MUNFORDVILLE — Close, but no cigar.

    For the fifth straight year, the LaRue County Lady Hawks came up just short against the Green County Lady Dragons in the 18th District Volleyball Tournament championship at Hart County’s Raider Gym.

    After falling in the first set, Green County rallied to win its eighth consecutive district title with a 24-26, 25-19, 25-19 victory over LaRue County on Tuesday night.

  • Court of Appeals to hear arguments locally

    The Kentucky Court of Appeals will hear oral arguments in four appeals Thursday when it convenes at the Hardin County Justice Center.

    Along with a criminal appeal stemming from a Shepherdsville man’s 2007 conviction on a second-offense manufacturing methamphetamine case, the appellate court will hear arguments on three civil cases, including one from Barren County and one from Hart County.

  • BOYS' PREP SOCCER: LaRue County advances to district semis (10/12)

    Sophomore midfielder Ricardo Collado had three assists and senior striker Dylan White also had an assist while adding two more goals to his school-record total of 32 as the LaRue County Hawks survived a wild first half before beating the Bullitt East Chargers, 6-3 in the Boys’ 9th District Tournament quarterfinals at Lally Field in Bardstown.

    LaRue County (13-3-3) led 2-0 less than 4 minutes in as White scored off an assist from senior striker Dillon Walker before feeding Collado for a goal.

  • City authorized energy audit at city hall, Pritchard



    Elizabethtown city officials have approved an energy audit at Elizabethtown City Hall and Pritchard Community Center that, when finished, could provide the city options toward energy savings.

    Elizabethtown City Council approved a contract this week with Paladin,Inc. for $21,135 to perform the audit, and City Engineer Scott Reynolds said the report should be completed and ready for the council by January.

  • PREP VOLLEYBALL: North Hardin Christian falls (10/12)

    North Hardin Christian had seven players combine for 19 kills and seven aces, but it didn’t prove to be enough Monday as the Lady Falcons fell to Nelson County Baptist, 25-20, 25-16.

    Sophomore Misy Schneider recorded six kills, two aces and a dig, while junior Olivia Smith had eight digs, six kills and an assist and senior Haley Daniels had nine digs, four assists and two kills.
