    VINE GROVE —  A Lexington man is charged with first-degree assault after police say he shot his wife in the face Wednesday morning at a Vine Grove residence.

    John Holiday, 51, and his wife, 44, had been “bickering the last few days” witnesses told Vine Grove Police. Vine Grove Police Sgt. James Karr said a bullet from a .38 caliber gun grazed the woman’s face and entered the left side of her jaw and neck.

  • KSP to conduct traffic checkpoints

    ELIZABETHTOWN — Kentucky State Police Post 4 troopers will be conducting traffic safety evaluations on various roads throughout the eight-county region through the end of next week.

    The evaluations could include checkpoints.

    Primary focus of the checks will be to reduce the instances of impaired driving and to enforce Kentucky’s mandatory seat belt law and child safety seat usage.

    ELIZABETHTOWN — A Rineyville man was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with second-degree burglary after police say he returned to the scene of the crime.

    Elizabethtown Police say Jerome Bussey Jr., 23, was arrested near an apartment complex that had been burglarized the day before.
