  • SOCCER: John Hardin's Alex Higdon takes his game to the national level (12/19)

    Having already made a name for himself on the area, regional and state soccer scenes, Alex Higdon recently took his game to the next level.

    A John Hardin High School junior, Higdon helped the 18-player Region II team win the 1995 boys age group at the U.S. Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program Boys’ NCAA Interregional, which was held Dec. 9-11 at Rathmell Sports Park in Vestavia, Ala. The ODP Interregional is held in conjunction with the Men’s NCAA College Cup.

    Radcliff Police Department is investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday evening at the intersection of Ky. 313 and Wiselyn Drive that sent one person to a Louisville hospital for treatment.

  • A Christmas concert for Chuck

    Charles “Chuck” Campbell was not leading the Heartland Winds’ annual winter concert Sunday afternoon at the Historic State Theater in Elizabethtown, but he was clapping away in heaven, his wife said.

    The Heartland Winds dedicated  its “Winter Reflections” concert to the memory of the founder and former leader, who succumbed to cancer in July.

    Campbell also served 31 years as a public school band director, directing bands at East and North Hardin High Schools as well as George Rogers Clark High School in Winchester.

  • Hodgenville man seriously injured in single-vehicle crash

    A Hodgenville man was airlifted to Louisville and another was treated at the scene Sunday after an early morning crash in LaRue County.

  • Divorces

    The following marriage dissolutions have been granted in Hardin Circuit Court in Elizabethtown.

    Jeremy Bush Goodman, 37, and Janell Marie Goodman, 37, both of Elizabethtown. Married 13 years.

    Jeremy Ryan Loeffler, 30, and Julia Ann Leoffler, 27, both of Vine Grove. Married nine years.

  • Shaw will not seek re-election as commonwealth's attorney

    Once he completes his second term Dec. 31, 2012, Commonwealth’s Attorney Chris Shaw will step out of the office and a new lead prosecutor will take his place.

    In a letter, Shaw announced he will not seek re-election in November. He is in his second six-year term as commonwealth’s attorney.

    First taking office in 2001, Shaw earned his second term after defeating local attorney Bob Bishop in the 2006 election.
