  • E'town nearing decision on new police chief

    The search for a new police chief in Elizabethtown continues.

    Mayor Tim Walker said a recommendation should be made to Elizabethtown City Council within the next week as the candidate pool was narrowed to two.

    The council met for roughly an hour Monday in a closed-door executive session, but adjourned without taking action on any items discussed. Likewise, Walker made no recommendation on a replacement for retiring Chief Ruben Gardner and he did not disclose any details of the discussion.

    “We hope to make a decision soon,” he said.

  • Annual Vine Grove High School reunion

    The annual Vine Grove High School Alumni Reunion was June 25. Classmates began gathering as early as 10 a.m. at J.T. Alton Middle School for the noon “picnic” style lunch. The reunion “picnic” began under shade trees several years ago, before J.T. Alton Middle School was built.

  • The Newsboys are coming to Severns Valley

    Christian recording artists The Newsboys will perform a concert Oct. 16 at Severns Valley Baptist Church in Elizabethtown.

    The Newsboys have four Grammy nominations and 18 Dove award nominations that include five wins. The group's contemporary Christian hits include “Shine,” “Entertaining Angels” and “He Reigns” and recent releases “Born Again” and “In the Hands of God.”

    The Carrot Zucchini Bread recipe published last week had mistakes in it. I apologize, but I can only trust the website I get recipes from periodically. I can’t always make every recipe, because of time and financial restraints. Thanks to one of my readers for letting me know. However, I am giving you two zucchini bread recipes today and if you want to add carrots, you can do that by adding shredded carrots to the batter.
