    HARDIN COUNTY — If only Bob Thomas’ tree shed its nuts around Valentine’s Day instead of now.

    Take a hammer and tap the top of one of the shells, and the part that’s inside looks like a heart. Hence the name: heartnut tree.

    Mike and Linda LeClair of Meade County announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Jennifer Christine LeClair, to Brandon Dale Wheet, son of Eddie and Donna Wheet of Lewisport.

    The bride-to-be is a 1999 graduate of Meade County High School. She is employed at Owensboro Medical Health Systems as a CT/radiology technician.

    The prospective groom is a 1996 graduate of Hancock County High School. He is also employed at Owensboro Medical Health Systems as a CT/radiology technician.

  • Local bands dominate E'town competition



    ELIZABETHTOWN — Two local bands shined at a competition at Elizabethtown High School this weekend.

    North Hardin High School’s band was named the Grand Champion of the 34th annual Elizabethtown Governor’s Cup competition on Saturday. John Hardin High School’s band placed second in the competition.

    North Band Director Brian Froedge said the win helped give the students a morale boost, and validated their work.

    The Friday Nite Live shows in Vine Grove have been very well received in the community. On the Friday when the Paul Eve show was performed, there was a record attendance – more than 500 people!


  • Parents announce birth of Brayden and Breanna


    Miller and Natalie Boley of Elizabethtown announce the birth of their twins, Brayden Miller Boley and Breanna Jean Boley, on April 23, 2009, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. Brayden weighed 6 pounds, 1 ounce and was 19 inches long. Breanna weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces and was 19½ inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are David and Karen Mills of Elizabethtown and the late Donna Mills. Paternal grandparents are Jim and Carol Boley of Hodgenville.

    Jessica Christiansen of Radcliff and Jason White of Magnolia were married June 27, 2009, at Carlson Hall at Camp Carlson with Brian Frederick, minister of Glendale Christian Church, officiating.

    The bride is the daughter of Robin Christiansen of Vine Grove and Wayne Christiansen of Philadelphia. The groom is the son of Barbara and Jerry White of Magnolia.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father, Wayne Christiansen.

    Allison White served as maid of honor, and Isabella and Arriana Rivera were the flower girls.
