    The Northern Hardin County Democratic Woman’s Club met in November at Colvin Community Center; refreshments were served by club volunteers.
    First vice president Maria Batistoni presented Rose Mack with a certificate recognizing her as the Outstanding Democratic Woman for the month of November.  
    Retired colonel and former state representative Mike Weaver was the featured speaker. He spoke on veterans and their place in this country’s history.

  • Elizabethtown Lions Club members welcome EHS Student of the Month

    At the Oct. 10 meeting of the Elizabethtown Lions Club, Lion Al Mather introduced the club’s Elizabethtown High School Student of the Month Ann Lauren Fiepke. Ann is a member of the EHS Pep Club, Beta Club, ASSD and student council. She also has participated in varsity swimming and tennis. Ann plans to continue her education, majoring in nursing with a minor in dance. Accompanying Ann were her parents, Scott and Kristin, and her grandmother, Nancy McCann, not pictured.

  • Charity golf scramble is a success

    The 27th annual Hardin County Law Enforcement Charity Golf Scramble to benefit the Kentucky Sheriffs’ Boys & Girls Ranch was held Aug. 15, with Hardin County Sheriff Charlie Williams hosting the event.
    We send our sincere thanks to Sheriff Williams as well as to the Hardin County Sheriffs’ Office  and to all those donating gifts, sponsoring holes and helping out. Your support and help of this event ensures we continue to reach Kentucky’s youth in a positive manner.

  • Tiger Cubs tour HCECTV

    The boys from Pack 244 in the White Mills Tiger Cub den recently went on a “Go see it” outing to the Hardin County Educational Television Station in Elizabethtown.
    They learned all about broadcasting and filming aspects and also got to play a round of Wiz Kids with cub scout based questions.

    SNOW. Did you see the snow flurries last Tuesday? It didn’t last long though, it eventually turned back into rain. The temperatures have turned colder. It’s hard to think that Christmas is less than a month away. Have you started your shopping yet?
    Cory and I toured Christmas in the Park. It was beautiful.
    BAND. Central Hardin High School Band will perform in concert at 7 p.m. today at the Hardin County Performing Arts Center.

  • Community supporters make bowls for Warm Blessings’ Empty Bowls fundraiser

    Many community supporters have been making ceramic bowls for the upcoming Warm Blessings Soup Kitchen fundraiser and awareness event called “Empty Bowls.”
    Those attending will make donations for a soup meal supporting Warm Blessings and will receive an “Empty Bowl” to remind them that some people’s bowls are empty.
    The event is Feb. 11 at Warm Blessings. Bowls made by community leaders will be sold in a silent auction as an added fundraising effort.
