    30 YEARS AGO, an ambulance subscription costing $28 yearly was a big expense for some 5,500 Medicare patients in Hardin County. The subscription would cover all emergency runs and doctor-authorized non-emergency runs.

    20 YEARS AGO, workers cleaning up after an accident on Interstate 65 tried to right a tanker truck. The truck carrying 4,000 gallons of sulfuric acid overturned clogging traffic on the highway north of Elizabethtown.

    30 YEARS AGO, Hardin County Emergency Medical Services ambulance corporation vowed that the Elizabethtown-based firm would soon begin operations at a substation in Radcliff.

    20 YEARS AGO, Beverly Yount, a charter member of the Hardin County chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, wrote a letter asking the Judicial Retirement and Removal Commission to dismiss Hardin District Judge Robert N. Hubbard from the bench because he had been treated for alcoholism, among other serious illnesses.

    30 YEARS AGO, Dave Birch of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce presented the 1977 Presidential Citation to Mayor James R. Pritchard. The award, presented for the first time in 1977, was for continuing outstanding community effort.

    20 YEARS AGO, parade planners promised The Heartland Festival parade was going to be “bigger and better than ever.” “Cactus” Tom Brooks of local television’s old “T-Bar-V Ranch” hosted the morning’s event.
