    By MARY ALICE HOLT Barbara Brown of Elizabethtown e-mailed me after I ran Josie Sanders’ recipe for chocolate pizza a few months ago. Barbara said it brought back warm memories of her days working with the Head Start program before she moved to Hardin County. Barbara worked with Head Start for 12 and-a-half years and loved every second of it. One of the things she loved was a special chocolate pizza she would make with the kids.

    Margaret Mae ‘Magie Owens’ Heim

    Margaret Mae “Magie Owens” Heim, 76, of Elizabethtown, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2010, at The Medical Center in Bowling Green.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Heim; her parents, Charlie and Sophia (Taylor) Burton; one son, Alexander Heim; one brother, Harold Burton; three sisters, Alma Christine Niemiec, Barbara Jean LaPointe and Rosie Marie Burton.

    Martha Leonard Fontenot proved Wednesday that one can go home again.

    An author and retired teacher, Fontenot visited Vine Grove Elementary School on Wednesday to read from her recently published book, “Grandma Liza’s Rainbow Cake.” The book tells the story of her grandmother, Sarah Eliza Martin Leonard, making a multicolored cake with Fontenot’s help when she was a young girl.
