     Robert Thomas Ashlock

    Robert Thomas Ashlock, 90, of Elizabethtown, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

    The Hardin County native served 21 years in the U.S. Navy, serving in the South Pacific, flying rescue in a PBY and serving in the New Hebrides Islands, Solomon Islands and the Phillipines. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association in Louisville. He retired in 1978 from the Fort Knox Post Office.

    ELIZABETHTOWN — Downtown is going to be a little more crowded and lively this holiday season.

    The city of Elizabethtown and the Heritage Council on Wednesday held a joint news conference at the First Federal Gallery inside the Historic State Theater to mark the “Light Up Old Towne” Art Walk Celebration, in hopes of spurring economic growth and rejuvenation in a downtown that has seen better days.
