RADCLIFF — Veteran police officer Lt. Col. Jeff Cross, the current deputy chief, will become the city’s newest police chief effective Sept. 1. 

He takes over for Chief Donald Bloodworth who is to retire Sept. 30, though his last day working in the post comes at the end of this month.

HARDIN COUNTY — Hardin County Schools will purchase and renovate a building to replace the Central Office annex on Main Street in Elizabethtown.

The 24,000-square-foot building on Corporate Drive is being purchased from TDA Properties for $900,000, according to board meeting decision papers. B.W. Metals is leasing 10,000 square feet from HCS for two years, and then that portion will be for the district’s use as well.

RADCLIFF — New York Times bestselling authors Lora Leigh and Shiloh Walker will be at The Bookstore in Radcliff to sign copies of their latest books from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Leigh will sign copies of her latest two releases, "Nauti Dreams" and "Wild Card."

Romantic Times has praised Leigh saying she "consistently does an excellent job building characters and weaving intricate plot threads through her stories."

Leigh lives with her family near Lexington, where she enjoys gardening, fishing and hiking.
