  • Parade of Homes announces winners

    The seventh annual Lincoln Trail Home Builders Association's Parade of Homes runs from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The $5 one-time fee can be paid at any of the 13 homes on display.

  • Hardin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary presents scholarships to area students

    The Hardin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary recently presented scholarships to area students going into a medical field of study. The scholarships were funded by the semi-annual jewelry sale and annual Let Christmas Shine program.

    The next $5 jewelry sale will be Nov. 11 and 12 in Auditorium 5A. The Let Christmas Shine lights sales will begin in the Gift Shop lobby on Nov. 8 and end Nov. 26. The tree lighting ceremony is at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 2.

    30 years ago, the Hardin County Fair was kicked off with the tractor pull and hog show; admission to the fair 30 years ago was $1 for adults, 50 cents for children under 18, and free for children under six. 20 years ago, it was reported that Hardin County had the eighth most AIDS cases of Kentucky counties (eight cases had been reported in the past eight years).

    30 years ago, David Simcoe, whose farm was located on Kentucky 1375, approximately two miles west of Cecilia Junction, off U.S. 62, hosted the 13th annual Hardin County Farmers’ Field Day; the event featured pasture renovation machine demonstrations, beef herd management, hog production and hay marketing. 20 years ago, the Glen Dale Children’s Home celebrated its 75th anniversary; Buckley Carlin was director of the home.
