     Mary Roselyn Holbert Hardy, 80, of Glendale, died Monday, July 6, 2009. The funeral is at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. James Catholic Church with burial in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Thursday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.

  • Radcliff woman indicted for stealing drugs from patients

    LOUISVILLE — A Radcliff woman was indicted by a federal grand jury Tuesday on charges of making false statements related to health care matters and acquiring a controlled substance by forgery, fraud or deception, Acting U.S. Attorney Candace G. Hill of the Western District of Kentucky said.

    Deborah Sue Whitacre Brown, 56, faces 15 years in prison, a $750,000 fine and supervised release for a period of up to 3 years.

  • A Dash of Class: Marilyn Young is July's 'best cook'


    July’s “One of Hardin County’s Best Cooks” is well known in the southern part of Hardin County. Glendale is her hometown, and the food she puts on the table for many family meals rivals those foods on the menu at restaurants native to that area.

    She was nominated by her sister-in-law, Patsy Young. Not only did Patsy nominate her, but she told me the recipes she should share. Today I honor Mrs. Russell Young, known to most as Marilyn.

    HARDIN COUNTY — It wasn’t pretty, but then again, it wasn’t supposed to be.

    Mud-flecked tires raged through the dampened earth as crumpled cars stalked one another around a makeshift track at the Hardin County Fairgrounds. On this course, the end result was twisted metal.
