FORT KNOX — When a soldier decides to devote even more time to the Army, Brig. Gen. Donald Campbell makes it a point when he can to give up some of his time for a re-enlistment.

Three soldiers recently decided to extend their contracts with the military and, last week, the post’s commanding general raised his right hand with them and swore them in.

ELIZABETHTOWN — Pulitzer Prize-nominated author Lester V. Horwitz will speak at the Hardin County Public Library at 7 p.m. today.

Horwitz was nominated for his book, “The Longest Raid of the Civil War,” which tells the story of Kentucky Confederate Gen. John Hunt Morgan’s raid through Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio in 1863.

RADCLIFF — The connection between the constellations the students were looking at in the StarLab at the Challenger Learning Center and the homemade shark hats they wore afterward might not be immediately evident. But upon a closer look at the center’s oceanography camp, it all makes sense.

The Challenger Learning Center of Hardin County finished up its camp last week and is beginning a new camp today.
