  • Troop 303 attends Centennial Jamboree

  • Lane crossover crash injures motorist

    Emergency workers responded to Interstate 65’s 79 mile-marker Sunday evening after a southbound Toyota Rav 4 with Illinois plates crossed a median and rolled into a fence-line that separates northbound I-65 from Jenkins Road.

    At least one passenger with a life-threatening head wound was flown to University Hospital in Louisville.

    The name of the driver and other details were unavailable as of Sunday night.

     

  • Rose graduates from Naval Training Recruit Command

    ROSE. Navy Seaman Recruit National J. rose graduated from the Naval Training Recruit Command at Naval Station in Great Lakes, Ill.

    He is the son of Retire Major William and Christie Rose of Rineyville.

    He is attending Navy Hospital Corps School in Great Lakes.

     

  • Swains celebrate 60th anniversary

    Les and Shirley Swain of Traverse City, Mich., celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Oct. 14, 2010.

    They were married Oct. 14, 1950, at First United Methodist Church in Dearborn, Mich.

    Mr. Swain retired from the Detroit Board of Education and Mrs. Swain retired from the City of Dearborn.

    They have four children, Jim Swain of Taylor, Mich., Judy Ferriter of South Bend, Ind., and Kayleen Johnson and Terri Swain, both of Elizabethtown; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one on the way.

    Loreane Brown

    Loreane Brown, 87, of Sonora, passed away Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, at North Hardin Nursing Home in Radcliff.

    She was a homemaker, a member of First Baptist Church of Sonora and a past member of Eastern Star.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Brown; her parents, John Wilbur and Lily Sharp Conder; one daughter, Bonita Vertrees; three sisters, Ruby Sosh, Lucille Hornback and Hazel Bland; and one brother, Gus Conder.

    Lawrence Lee Clay, 69, of Elizabethtown, died Friday, Oct. 15, 2010. A graveside service is at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central.

  • Yates graduates from ROTC course

    YATES. Clayton W. Yates graduated from the Army ROTC, Reserve Officer Training Corps, Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as “Operation Warrior Forge,” at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Wash. The cadet is a student at Ohio State University in Columbus. A 2007 graduate of St. Xavier High School in Louisville, he is the son of David A. Yates and Kaye Clark Yates, both of Vine Grove.

    CALDWELL. Air Force Airman Matavia L. Caldwell graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. A 2007 graduate of North Hardin High School in Radcliff, she is the daughter of Kenneth and Shirley Caldwell of Radcliff.
