  • Students learn banking and finance

    Students at Elizabethtown High School can bank on cool classes that teach them about banking and finances.

    First Panther Bank is part of Finance and Banking 1, taught by Janie Pennington. The class is an elective for juniors and seniors.

    “This course is an intensive study of financial procedures and concepts,” Pennington said. “It also involves a student financial center that provides applications of banking and financial concepts.”

    The weather has been a little bit of everything so far this month. There is snow in the forecast as I write this. Many want the weather to hurry up and stay warm. Let’s remember it is the season of winter. We should count our blessings for each season.

  • Two charged with E’town armed robbery

    Two Shepherdsville men have been charged in the Dec. 17 robbery of Cash Advance on West Dixie Avenue and police say they are connected to more than 20 other robberies in Indiana and Kentucky.
    Solomon S. Evans Jr., 33, and Luke A. Hasty, 30, were in police custody in Oldham County when police there notified the Elizabethtown Police Department the two may have been involved in the local robbery.

  • Fort Knox MOAA briefed on Cadet Command

    The Fort Knox Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) held its monthly meeting Dec. 15 at the MOAA Clubhouse This was the last meeting held in this clubhouse since the organization has moved to Building 2377, still on Fort Knox. The evening included a roast pork dinner with the fixing, and appropriate decorations. 

  • Radcliff approves additional salt expenses

    This season’s barrage of winter storms has led Radcliff City Council to invest more in salt supplies.
    The council on Tuesday approved a request from Public Works Director Harold Brown to purchase an additional $10,000 worth of salt, which Brown said should create around 150 tons in added salt stores.
