    Lauren C. Barren and Matthew L. Russell, both of Elizabethtown, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Tammy and Jonathan Bryan of Elizabethtown and Jason and Teresa Barren of Vine Grove. She is a 2009 graduate of Elizabethtown Community and Technical College with an associate degree in interdisciplinary early childhood education and a 2006 graduate of Central Hardin High School. She is employed at Hardin County Schools.

  • Buchanan-Kennedy



    Steve and Debbie Buchanan of Vine Grove announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Laura Buchanan to Mark Kennedy of Radcliff.

    The bride-to-be is a 2005 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Kentucky with a bachelor of science in chemical engineering and in 2009 earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from University of Louisville. She is an internal medicine resident at University of Louisville Affiliated Hospitals.

    Club assists with Hooray for Heroes event

    The Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown helped with Hooray for Heroes in Radcliff. The day which was designed to entertain and show appreciation to military families in the community was a success, and all who attended had a great day. The information booth was the designated location for the club women to assist the crowds this year.


  • BirthPlace receives 25 baby quilts from United Methodist Women

    Pictured holding some of the 25 baby quilts donated to BirthPlace at Hardin Memorial Hospital are staff members: Linda Thompson, Gwen Drew, Alana Hunter, Carolyn Bewley; BirthPlace Unit Manager, Cheryl Lei-Sams, Tammy Owen and Catherine Johnson. Mary Agnes Sears and Suzanne Tigges, 3rd and 4th from left represent the United Methodist Women of the Elizabethtown district who made the quilts.


  • Lions Club has program on Warm Blessings

    Linda Funk of Warm Blessings was the guest speaker at a recent meeting of the Elizabethtown Lions Club. She brought the club up to date on recent happenings at Warm Blessings and shared their excitement with the progress being made for their new location. Lion President Bill Shinkle presented Funk with a token of the club’s appreciation for her presentation.


  • Garden Club visits Yew Dell Gardens


      On June 5, members of the Garden Club of Elizabethtown enjoyed a guided tour of the Yew Dell Gardens in Crestwood. The members felt that the field trip to this beautiful garden was useful and informative. 

  • VFW Post 10281 presents awards to helpful businesses


    Dennis Harris co-chair for Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10281 Auxiliary made the rounds presenting local businesses for their outstanding donation support to the recent Kid’s Fishing Derby that saw 317 kids and their families spend a day together. All were treated to lunch and awards courtesy of the post membership and local businesses.

  • Elizabethtown Woman’s Club meets at Claudia’s Tea Room

    Recently several members of the Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown met at Claudia’s Tea Room in Sonora. A few members had guests with them. Betty Sue French had her daughter, Laura, and her granddaughter, Jessica, from Danville. Diane Willis had her mother, Bess, and sister-in-law, Roslyn, from Baton Rouge, La. Dea McCrory, a Woman’s Club member from Granada Hills, Calif., also attended. Also, Ilse Ach attended as a guest of Phyllis Brandenburg and Jeanne Smith.
