  • Club has program on staying “heart healthy”


    The Vine Grove Woman’s Club met in October with guest speaker Hazel McLaughlin presenting her personal story about heart surgery and warning signs for women. McLaughlin is the spokesperson for the American Heart Association for Duvall County, Fla.

    President Sallie Potts presented Donna Betson, club member and chairwoman of the Kentucky Patriots, a check for $150 for her group’s “Wreaths Across America” project.

    Members of the club also brought new stuffed animals for the police and fire departments to give out.

  • Bigelow graduates from basic military training


    BIGELOW. Air National Guard Airman Joseph E. Bigelow graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. A 2005 graduate of Grayson County High School, he is the son of Joe Bigelow of Leitchfield and brother of Samantha Baker of Elizabethtown.

  • Red Cross offers classes to community in November


    The American Red Cross will conduct the following classes in November. IACET CEUs are available for Red Cross training. In honor of those that serve, active duty military discounts are available, but must be requested at time of payment.

    Classes are held at the American Red Cross Office, 405 W. Dixie Ave., Elizabethtown, unless otherwise noted. Call 765-4979 to register for a class or for information.

  • Annual Homemakers Bazaar is Nov. 14

     The annual Hardin County Homemaker Christmas Bazaar is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Hardin County Cooperative Extension Center, 201 Peterson Drive in Elizabethtown. Two rooms of vendors will have Christmas decorating items and gifts, and other vendors will have other household and gift items for sale. Baked items also will be available, and potato soup and chili will be available for sale.

  • Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown holds annual Harvest Breakfast

    The Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown held its 45th annual harvest Breakfast recently at Pritchard Community Center. The women served almost 600 people at the center and with carry-out and drive-thru. In addition to the country ham breakfast, there was a Country Store, providing homemade items for sale. It was also a fun time of community gathering.
