    ELIZABETHTOWN— A soft breeze moves across the crowded gravel lot as shoppers and curious types move between the rows of tables of various items offered for sale Saturday morning at the Bowling Lanes Flea Market. Several tables of fresh produce, some locally grown and more brought in from other places, such as melons from Indiana.

    ELIZABETHTOWN — A mugshot of Abraham Lincoln, an outline of Hardin County, and a soldier and helicopter all wrapped inside a penny is the winner of this year’s Heartland Festival T-shirt contest.

  • Stimulus could fund trestle replacement



    FORT KNOX — Hardin County government is sponsoring an application for a grant that could fund a $25 million project to replace roughly 120-year-old railroad trestles on post.

    While the large steel bridges are considered safe, there are flaws such as fatigue cracks and upkeep is expensive for Paducah & Louisville Railway.
