    Danny and Sandy Close of Bowling Green announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Natalie Danielle Close, to Jason Conleigh Riggs, son of Conleigh and Susan Riggs of Elizabethtown.

    The bride-to-be is a graduate of Greenwood High School and Western Kentucky University and is a crisis intervention counselor at The Barren River Area Child Advocacy Center.

    The prospective groom is a graduate of Elizabethtown High School and is attending Western Kentucky University. He is employed by Fruit of the Loom as a network control technician.

  • Hardin County Senior Republican Women present scholarship

     The Hardin County Senior Republican Women’s Forum met May 21 at Gondolier Italian Restaurant in Elizabethtown. In addition to the regular members, there were several associate members in attendance. A $500 scholarship was awarded to Samantha Adams, who will attend Union College, in Jackson, Tenn.

    Gregory and Bonnie Bryant of Lebanon Junction announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Stephanie Bryant of Elizabethtown, to Daniel Powell of Elizabethtown.

    The bride-to-be is a medical assistant for the Center for Healthcare Innovations.

    The prospective groom is the son of Larry Powell of Flaherty and Dr. and Mrs. Robert E. Robbins of Elizabethtown. He is an office administrator.

    The wedding is at 3 p.m., May 23, 2009, at 1007 Dogwood Drive, Elizabethtown. A reception will be held at the same address following the wedding.

    Parents welcome Jackson Thomas

    Carissa and Luke Bickett of Elizabethtown announce the birth of a son, Jackson Thomas Bickett, on March 1, 2009, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He weighed 5 pounds, 10.5 ounces and was 18 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Dave and Violet Knoop of Rineyville, and paternal grandparents are Monica Bickett of Corydon, Ind., and Thomas Bickett of Elizabethtown.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Ronnie and Annetta Payton of Elizabethtown. She is a graduate of Elizabethtown Community and Technical College and is a Western Kentucky University student. She is an assistant manager at American Eagle in Elizabethtown.

    The prospective groom is the son of Harry and Carol Korrell of North Bend, Wash. He is a graduate of North Hardin High School and is store manager of Gamestop in Radcliff.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of John and Mary Tindall of Radcliff. She is a 1997 graduate of North Hardin High School and a 1999 graduate of Sullivan University with an associate’s degree in culinary arts. She is employed by Sodexo in Louisville.
