As this season’s tobacco harvest begins, growers have good reason to light a cigar.
Not only have frequent rains been beneficial for local burley plants, but also moisture in the air will help with curing.
“We’re expecting a good crop,” said Rick Thomas, who farms off St. John Road near Elizabethtown.
“The rain has been perfect,” he said. That means a lot of it fell, but in small increments.
