  • Super Bowl scores for pizza places



    HARDIN COUNTY — Super Bowl Sunday is the day every team in the National Football League prepares for all year. It is also, not so coincidentally, the culmination of the hard work put in by pizza places across the country.

    Pizza establishments in Hardin County take extra steps to prepare for one of the sports world’s biggest days, and what has become one of the pizza business’s biggest days too.

  • Pope

    Laura Jeannette Brangers of Cecilia and Kenny Wayne Pope of Mount Washington were married Sept. 26, 2009 at City Plaza in Mount Washington by the Rev. Denver Wood.

    The bride is the daughter of George and Mary Ann Brangers of Cecilia, and the groom is the son of Wayne and Diane Pope of Mount Washington.

    Maria Allen served as maid of honor, and Craig Williams was best man.

    A reception was held in Shepherdsville.

    The couple now reside in Taylorsville.

  • BRAC to schools



    ELIZABETHTOWN — New students from the BRAC transition that schools have anticipated are starting to become a reality in two local districts.

    Both districts have begun to see enrollment growth from the BRAC transition for which they’ve been preparing for several years.

    Hardin County Schools has had about 700 new students enroll since January 2009, and are just above 14,000 students now, said Bobby Lewis, HCS associate superintendent for student services.

  • Merriman and Wilson graduate from basic training

    MERRIMAN. Air Force Airman Christopher B. Merriman graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

    Merriman is the son of Rance and Laura Merriman of Elizabethtown.

    WILSON. Air Force Airman Jonathan S. Wilson graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

    He is the son of Donald and Sandra Wilson of Hodgenville.

    Wilson is a 2007 graduate of Larue County High School in Hodgenville.

    Levi William LaFollette and Jessica Sue Saylor, both of Elizabethtown, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of David Logsdon of Leitchfield and Janice Logsdon of Elizabethtown. She is a 2005 graduate of Grayson County High School and is a cashier at Dollar Tree.

    The prospective groom is the son of Terry and Sandy LaFollette of Hodgenville. He is a crew member at McDonald’s.

  • Radcliff Rotary makes donations


    Recent guests of Rotarian Pam DeRoche, right were the Rev. Alice Nichols, Sylvia Griendling and Jeff Corkran of CASA of the Heartland. The Rev. Nichols talked about the history of CASA and the advantages to children in the Family Court system of having a CASA volunteer. Sylvia Griendling talked about the training to become a volunteer advocate while Jeff Corkran provided technical support. CASA is an acronym for “Court Appointed Special Advocate.” For more information call the CASA office at 982-2272.
