  • Bishop to celebrate 80th birthday

    Elizabeth “Libby” Bishop will celebrate her 80th birthday with a party in her honor from 1 to 3 p.m., Aug. 14, 2010, at Sportsman Lake in Hodgenville.

    She was born Aug. 13, 1930.

    She four children, Libby Grimes and J.D., Kenny and Karla Bishop; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

    All friends and relatives are invited to enjoy food and music.

    No gifts, please.


  • PREP FOOTBALL: Trojans look to get back on track against E'town (09/16)

    Coming off back-to-back losses, the second being a lopsided loss to bitter rival John Hardin, the Trojans know they are on a slippery slope.

    Last year they were in the exact same spot and lost their footing, going winless the rest of the season. This time they plan on digging in their heels.

    Jeff and Denise Gillenwater of Elizabethtown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Olivia Danielle Gillenwater, to the Rev. William Brandon Reed of Hodgenville, son of Willie and Lauralene Reed.

    The bride-to-be is an administrative assistant to the judge executive of LaRue County. She is the granddaughter of Kenneth and Betty Gillenwater and the Rev. Ray and Bettie Payne, all of Elizabethtown, and the great-granddaughter of Dorothy Noe and Ernestine Webb.

    Roger and Elizabeth Cross of Elizabethtown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Elizabeth Celeste Cross, to Michael Patrick Barry, son of Wanda Barry and James Barry of Elizabethtown.

    The bride-to-be is a 2006 graduate of John Hardin High School and a 2010 graduate of the University of Kentucky, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She is a registered nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at University of Kentucky Hospital.
