  • West Point voters to decide alcohol sales issue Tuesday

West Point is gearing up for a vote that will determine whether restaurants in the northern Hardin County city can serve alcohol with food.

If the measure passes Tuesday, restaurants that offer alcohol must generate at least 70 percent of sales from food to maintain a liquor license and alcohol only could be sold with food rather than at a separate bar.

Opinions in West Point differ regarding whether the measure should pass.

  • Brad Richardson capable of meeting chamber's challenges

The Hardin County Chamber of Commerce is on a roll.
Last summer the leadership bodies of the chambers of commerce of Elizabethtown, Radcliff, Vine Grove and West Point announced a collective goal to unite their individual organizations. Considerable time was invested following that announcement by Heartland Chambers Alliance in determining foundational details on how each group would merge into a unified body. Their work built up to a vote of approval on the merger by members of the individual chambers.

Where did the summer go? The weather was so beautiful and warm there for a few days, bringing the spring flowers into full blossom. It is the first time I can recall ever seeing the redbuds bloom out in March. I had been seeing bushes in full bloom in yards, and remarked they looked like redbuds, but thought I must be mistaken. But my son, James Barnes, and I went to Bowling Green Saturday afternoon and saw redbuds in full bloom all along the sides of I-65.
