  • Fowler, Wise meet in only contested school board race



    The only contested school board race in this election involves a former board member facing off with a current one.

    Joe Fowler, a former Hardin County Schools board member, is running to regain the Division 3 seat on the board from board member Charlie Wise.

    Fowler, 56, of Rineyville, is vice president of operations for Accumetric in Elizabethtown. Wise, 60, is the owner and operator of Wise Contracting in Elizabethtown.

  • Wise wins another term on HCS board



    Charlie Wise will continue to be Division 3 representative on the Hardin County Schools board after winning the race for the seat with 2,524 votes.

    “I really wanted to serve another four years and finish up some things we got started,” Wise said. He said he appreciated voters’ confidence in him.

    Wise’s opponent, Joe Fowler, received 1,243 votes.

  • HCEC-TV to cover election live

HCEC-TV will broadcast live coverage of today’s election for what’s believed to be the first time, Director Gina Ryan said. The educational channel will conduct exit polls and interviews with candidates and discuss results from 5:30 p.m.

    On Oct. 22 the guest speaker for the Hardin County AM Rotary Club was Ed Poppe, director of the Elizabethtown Planning and Zoning Commission. Poppe shared with the club the most recent changes in his office and provided the club with an update of new businesses in the area.
