  • Emary: Radcliff needs to be destination

    Emary wants to embrace change and growth



    Radcliff mayoral candidate Jo Emary believes a dose of realism is needed to move the city forward in the midst of a transitional crux.

    Emary, executive director of the Radcliff-Hardin County Chamber of Commerce, outlined a platform last week she considers controversial but necessary to make Radcliff a better place to live.

    She challenges sitting Radcliff Councilman J.J. Duvall, with whom she shares some philosophical differences.

  • Roadside recognition planned for soldier's funeral procession

    Staff report

    The funeral procession Monday following services for 1st Lt. Eric Yates will take a course along the west side of Ring Road at the request of his father’s co-workers.

    Employees of Akebono’s brake plant plan a roadside recognition on behalf of the 26-year-old killed last weekend while serving in Afghanistan.

    The funeral for the 2003 John Hardin High graduate is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church in Elizabethtown with burial in St. John Cemetery in Rineyville.

  • GIRLS' PREP GOLF: North Hardin's Gumm, Central Hardin's team after more region titles (09/27)



    North Hardin’s Lydia Gumm has had anything but a sophomore slump.

    Gumm has several standout performances to her credit this year, including a 61 to win the Kentucky Invitational Tournament in Russell Springs.

    Not surprisingly, Gumm is the overwhelming favorite to once again the 3rd Region Tournament as 67 players from 19 schools tee off beginning at 9 a.m. today at Elizabethtown Country Club.

    Martha Jane Denham, 80, of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010. A Celebration of Her Life is at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Dixon-Atwood & Trowbridge Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Visitation begins at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
