    SCHAPMIRE. Army Pvt. Michael L. Schapmire has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. A 2004 graduate of North Hardin High School, he is the son of John Schapmire of Vine Grove.

    ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. – State police could present grand jurors with evidence from the fatal Dec. 25 shooting of a Tennessee man by Radcliff police in upcoming weeks, but the deceased’s mother already blames several people for causing his death, aside from those who shot her son.

  • Brother welcomes Quinton Gabriel


    Parker Davis announces the birth of a brother, Quinton Gabriel Davis, on Oct. 16, 2009, at Yokota Air Force base in Japan. He weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces and was 19 inches long.

    Parents are Kyle and Amber Davis.

    Grandparents Jimmie (Karen) Davis and Norman (Marsha) Jewell, all of Elizabethtown.

  • Goldenrod Homemakers enjoy Thanksgiving meal and fellowship

    The Goldenrod Homemakers met Nov. 10 at the home of Bonnie Miller. Alice Bennett presided, and Sue Logsdon had each homemaker answer roll call by naming something Americans take for granted that residents of other that other countries would be thankful for. Minnie Miller gave the devotional.

    Charlotte Cooper gave a lesson on ‘What in the world is going on around me? She also gave a presentation on aprons, and brought in several aprons of different styles. Several homemakers wore them around for a while.

  • Ellis celebrates 80th birthday


    Opal Ellis celebrated her 80th birthday on Oct. 10, 2009, surrounded by family.

    Her children are Virginia Hart, Johnny Ellis, Donna Brangers, Larry Ellis, Myrna Priest and Joe Ellis. She has nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.


  • Parents welcome Dylan Jackson


    Angie and Michael Elliott announce the birth of a son, Dylan Jackson Elliott, on Nov. 9, 2009. He weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces and was 20 ½ inches long.

    He has two half sisters, Cayla and Celess.

    Grandparents are Michael Elliott, Diane Elliott Reynolds and Jim and Pam Vaske.

    Great-grandparents are Virginia Vincent, Shirley and Tony Peters, Wanda Settle, Jimmie and Dorothy Reynolds and the late Rev. Jesse Vincent, the late Desmond Elliott and the late Jack Settle.
