    Anna Coleen Green of Fort Story, Va., and Sean Travis Farley of Fort Eustis, Va., were married Jan. 23, 2009, in Newport News, Va.

    The bride is the daughter of Shonna Miles-Rasner and David Rasner of Riverside, Calif.

    The groom is the son of Flint and Kathy Farley of Cecilia.

    A reception will be held from 2 to 5 p.m., March 14, 2009, at College Heights United Methodist Church.

    The couple reside in Hampton, Va.

    All friends and relatives are invited to attend.

     

  • Penders celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

     

     

    Frank and Shirley Owen Pender of Rineyville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a 5 p.m. mass at St. James Catholic Church in Elizabethtown on April 4, 2009.

    They were married April 4, 1959, by the Rev. Jucubiack in Fort Eustis, Va.

    Mr. Pender is retired from the Army and joined the Catholic Church in 1992.

    Mrs. Pender is retired from Proffitts and is on the welcoming committee at Helping Hand.

  • Johnson makes presentation to Ancestral Trails Historical Society

    Katherine Johnson presented a Power Point program on the University of Louisville archives and Manuscripts at a recent meeting of Ancestral Trails Historical Society, describing what is available at U of L. ATHS recently held its annual book fair. Those who missed it and want the new books that came out this year can visit the ATHS library at the Hardin County History Museum in Elizabethtown and purchase them. Other books published by the society are also available for purchase. The next meeting of Ancestral Trails Historical Society is Friday when Samuel A.

    HUGHES. Air Force Airman Adam M. Hughes graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

    He is the son of Michael Hughes of Elizabethtown and grandson of Leroy Henderer of Evendale, Ohio.

    The airman is a 2005 graduate of Central Hardin High School in Elizabethtown.

    WOOD. Army Staff Sgt. Brad D. Wood has arrived for duty at the Noncommissioned Officer Academy at Fort Knox.

    Wood is an Advanced Leaders Course instructor at the academy. The staff sergeant has served 13 years in the military.

  • Brother welcomes Axton Bade

     

     

    Kale Masterson of Lexington announces the birth of a brother, Axton Bade Masterson, on Feb. 6, 2009. He weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces and as 19 ¾ inches long.

    Parents are B.J. and Spring Masterson of Lexington.

    Grandparents are Debbie and Rodney Sharp of Glendale, Joe and Janice Masterson of Elizabethtown and Jeffrey and Avanda Rainey of Danville.

    Great-grandparents are Shirley and Larry Milam and Alton and Dee Masterson, all of Elizabethtown and Pauline Hilbert.

    The bride is the daughter of Paul and Tammy Davidson of Elizabethtown.

    The groom is the son of Dan and Brenda Marcus of Lufkin, Texas.

    The couple reside in Fort Hood, Texas.

     

  • Northern Hardin County Democratic Woman’s Club Assists with Easer Egg Hunt

     

     

    The Northern Hardin County Democratic Woman's Club  volunteered itsr assistance to the Radcliff Optimist Club’s annual Easter Egg Hunt at Duvall Ball Park. Several hundred children were arranged into three age groups. The NHCDWC ladies helped organized the groups and give out the prizes. The Optimist Club gave prizes for winning eggs and tickets. The event was a huge success.

    Jameson graduates from basic training

    JAMESON. Air Force Airman Eric M. Jameson recently graduated form basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

    He is a 2008 graduate of Elizabethtown High School and is the son of Scott and Carol Jameson of Elizabethtown and the grandson of Karin Gilliam and Mary Jo Jameson, both of Elizabethtown.
