HARDIN COUNTY — As the economy continues to tank, many consumers are finding an array of bargains — from houses to gasoline.
Smokers, though, are being clobbered.
As of April 1, both federal and state taxes will spike the cost of a pack of cigarettes a total of 92 cents. In addition, big tobacco companies have already — and unexpectedly — raised prices to recoup what they will pay in federal taxes.
