    Lillian Risky and Charley Clark, both of Elizabethtown, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Michael Risky Sr. of Henryville, Ind., and Theresa Parker of Corbin.

    The prospective groom is the son of the late Katherine Clark and Edward Clark of Elizabethtown. He is employed at Dow Corning.

    The wedding is at 5 p.m., Aug. 13, 2010, at the Freeman Lake Bandstand.

    All friends and relatives are invited to attend.

  • Wood family holds gathering

    Lida Wood and her 11 children at a recent family gathering.

    Recently the family of 99-year-old Lida Wood had a family gathering at St. Brigid Catholic Church Hall in Vine Grove. More than 100 relatives and friends were in attendance. Mrs. Wood has resided in Vine Grove for 62 years, and so do seven of her children.

    Vietnam War radio personality Adrian Cronauer, gave one more “Gooood Morning, Vietnam” as a sunrise service and breakfast was conducted yesterday morning to close out this year’s Heartland Festival, “Thank You From the Heartland: A Salute to Vietnam Veterans.”

    The service was held in the area of Freeman Lake Park that had been set up as Camp Saigon for the previous day’s festivities.

    Army tents and truck and a flag draped podium helped set the tone of the service.

  • Weises celebrate 40th wedding anniversary


    Jim and Deborah Weise will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary, today, Aug. 1, 2010.

    They were married Aug. 1, 1970, at Temple Baptist Church in Norfolk, Va.

    They have two children, Craig Weise of Wellington, New Zealand, and A. Courtney Santonicole of Vienna, Va.; and six grandchildren.


  • Edwardses celebrate 50th anniversary


    Damon and Erika Edwards of Radcliff celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 21. They were married July 21, 1960 in Illesheim, Germany. Mr. Edwards is retired from the Army.  They have four children, Donita Wilkins of Texas and Scott Edwards, Terry Edwards and Cheryl Edwards, all of Kentucky. They also have two grandsons.
