    Michele R. Clark, 43, of Vine Grove, died Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Norton Hospital in Louisville.

    She was preceded in death by her father, Homer Paxton; a brother, Larry Paxton; and her father-in-law, Ace Clark.

    Benjamin Franklin Chandler Jr.

    Benjamin Franklin Chandler Jr., 52, of Vine Grove, passed away Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at his home.

    Staff Sgt. Chandler retired from the United States Air Force and served in the Gulf War. He was a member of St. Brigid Catholic Church in Vine Grove.

    He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Franklin Chandler.

  • Wildflower and Critter Program a success for Greenspace

    Judy Lay, program coordinator for Greenspace, discusses Pirtle Trail hike details with Julian Campbell, one of Kentucky’s premier botanists, and Jeff Hohman of East Kentucky Coal. The group leaders came from the Lexington area, and presented information to more than 40 hikers on Mother’s Day. Dr. Campbell identified plants along the trail, and Hohman brought along live frogs, salamanders and snakes for everyone to view and touch, if they wished. The weather cooperated and refreshments were served at the conclusion of the programs.

    She was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Elizabethtown.

    Beatrice H. Bosemer, 94, of Brandenburg, passed away Friday, May 22, 2009, at Helmwood Healthcare in Elizabethtown.

    Survivors include her daughter, Annette (Thomas) McConnell, and her son, Martin (Pamela) Bosemer.

    The funeral is at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ekron Baptist Church, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville at 1 p.m.

    Zula Mae Ackerman, 85, of Magnolia, passed away Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at her residence.

    Survivors include a daughter, Peggy A. Poulter.

    The funeral is at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia. 

    Visitation is 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

    Hazel Irene Brakebill, 88, of Radcliff, passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at North Hardin Health and Rehabilitation Center in Radcliff.

  • EFD Crusade fund receives its largest donation ever

    Staff report ELIZABETHTOWN — The Elizabethtown Fire Department this spring received its largest donation for Crusade for Children since the department began raising money for the organization. A woman named Claudia Frazier donated $30,047.73 to the fundraiser in her estate, in memory of Richard and Lulamae Bogard. Richard Bogard was the fire chief for the department in the 1950s. Frazi
