    Lauren Elin Kinkade and Donald Troy Hughes were married Oct. 3, 2008, at the Kinkades’ family farm in Leitchfield.

    The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Kinkade of Leitchfield and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kinkade and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Duvall,, all of Leitchfield.

    The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rob Hughes of Clarkson and is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Albright and Mrs. Trudy Hughes, all of Clarkson.

    Erin Priddy and Tony Alvis were married Aug. 23, 2008, at the Pritchard Community Center garden with Brother Doug Sanders officiating.

    The bride is the daughter of Alfred and Lienna Priddy and the granddaughter of Wes and Maryann Priddy of Glendale and Tom Mowbray of Tullahoma, Tenn. and the late Kay Mowbray.

    The groom is the son of Danny and Sandy Alvis of Cincinnati.

    Annan Mairi-Lee Matthews and Robert Charles Anderson Jr. were married Oct. 4, 2008, at the Bright School in Chattanooga, Tenn., by the Rev. Morty Lloyd of Chattanooga.

    The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Denver Matthews of Midway and the granddaughter of Mairi Wood of Radcliff the late Herbert Wood, Anne Matthews of Heddesheim, Germany and the late William Matthews.

    Parents announce birth of Pixie Kate

    Jason and Becky Murdock of Louisville announce the birth of a daughter, Pixie Kate Murdock, on April 19, 2008, at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville. She weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces and was 18 inches long.

    Paternal grandparents are Randy and Cheryl Murdock of Eastview. Maternal grandparents are Gary Bennett and Janie Bennett, both of Elizabethtown.

    Parents announce birth of Houston Chad

    Jessica Burden and Chad Caswell of Upton announce the birth of a son, Houston Chad Caswell, on May 1, 2008, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds, 5½ ounces and was 18½ inches long.

    Grandparents are Jennifer and William Sadler of Sonora, and Billy and Tiffany Burden, Martha and Timmy Capps, and Dale Caswell, all of Upton.

  • John Fairey honored at Elizabethtown Lions Club meeting


    At the Nov. 11 meeting of the Elizabethtown Lions Club, Lion John Fairey was guest of honor on the occasion of his 80th birthday. Fairey has been a member of the club for 31 years, and his accomplishments are many: Lion of the Year, 1984-85; Melvin Jones Fellow, 1993; Proud Lion; Fines Davis Award 2007: and 10-year, 15-year, 20-year and 30-year Chevrons. He is a lifetime member who has brought seven members into the club. He joined the club in 1976 and has held the post of club treasurer since 1978.




        Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10281 and the Ladies Auxiliary held the monthly community breakfast Nov. 9. This event is held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the second Sunday of the month and a full breakfast is served. There is no cost to those who attend, but donations are accepted.       Shelby Simmons of Brandenburg announces the birth of her brother, Jacob Logan Simmons, on Sept. 25, 2008 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He weighed 6 pounds and was 18½ inches long. Parents are Timmy and Heidi Simmons of Brandenburg. Maternal grandparents are Patricia Thompson of Radcliff and the late William Cramer. Paternal grandparents are Tim Simmons Sr.
