    Edgar Ellis Lovitt

    Edgar Ellis Lovitt, 85, of Vine Grove, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010, at Kindred Hospital in Louisville.

    Mr. Lovitt was retired from the United States Army and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

  • Johnsons celebrate 50th anniversary


    Roy Johnson Sr. and Peggy Harris Johnson will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary from 6 to 8 p.m. June 25, 2010, with an open house and reaffirmation of their vows ceremony at 6:30 p.m. at Elizabethtown Church of Christ Fellowship Hall, 1121 North Dixie Ave., Elizabethtown.

    They were married June 25, 1960, in Youngstown, Ohio, by Dorsey Cummings.

    Mr. Johnson is retired from the Army and worked as a civilian dining facility manager at Fort Knox.

    30 years ago, U.S. rural mail carrier Wendell Freeman retired, completing 32 years (and traveling 600,000 miles) delivering mail for residents of the Rineyville area. 20 years ago, it was reported that on his first day in office, new Hardin County Judge Executive Glen Dalton married seven couples.  

  • Dog returned after month-long adventure



    Since disappearing from her Radcliff home last month, 2-year-old Riley has been picked up, dropped off, impounded, injected, micro-chipped, adopted by a Fort Knox soldier, pictured on television and now returned to her original owners.

    Riley’s reunion came Friday afternoon after pleading by her owners spurred Fort Knox leaders to arrange a meeting that led to the Weimeraner's return. Fort Knox officials say the dog was returned with consent from its adopted owner.

  • Fort Knox Inn robbed

    Radcliff police are looking for information about an early morning armed robbery of Fort Knox Inn on U.S. 31W.

    A 5-foot, 9-inch tall black man wearing a black bandanna mask entered the hotel shortly after 2 a.m. Tuesday armed with a semi-automatic pistol, police said.

    He fled with an undetermined amount of cash, they said.

    Anyone with information about the crime or suspect may help police by calling (270) 351-TIPS, or by calling Hardin County Crime Stoppers at (800) 597-8123.

  • Stovers celebrate 50th wedding anniversary


    James W. Jr. and Linda L. Guinn Stover of Elizabethtown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 30, 2010.

    They were married April 30, 1960 in Louisville by the Rev. D.E. Montgomery of Louisville.

    Mr. Stover is retired. He worked for the old H.J. Scheirich Company and Taylor Drugs. He attends Severns Valley Baptist Church.

    Mrs. Stover is a housewife and attends Severns Valley Baptist Church.

  • Sears celebrates 80th birthday

    Bernie D. Sears will celebrate his 80th birthday today, June 18. A reception in his honor will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Father’s Day, at his home, 673 Seminole Road in Radcliff.

    He and his wife, Mary Agnes, have three children; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

    All friends and relatives are invited to attend the reception. No gifts please.

  • E'town boy, 10, honored for clean-up efforts



    At 10 years old, Brayden Berving enjoys some of the things typical of boys his age: playing with his Nintendo DS and playing outside.

    He also enjoys helping his community, and that aspect of his character was recognized when he became one of 35 Kentucky kids honored through the Kohl’s Kids Who Care Scholarship Program with a $50 gift card, certificate of recognition and a chance for a $10,000 scholarship.
