  • Next Generation Musicians Club holds fifth anniversary talent show

    Next Generation Musicians Club celebrated their 5th anniversary with a talent show held at Boonedock’s on June 29.

    The performers and the crowd of over 170 had a great time. Food donations were collected to assist Helping Hand Charities.

    Next Generation Musicians is a non-profit organization created to inspire young musicians.

    The club meets monthly for Open Mic. Performers are available for community and special events. For more info contact Brenda 737-0199.


  • Club provides lunch for Habitat workers

    The Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown served lunch at the Habitat for Humanity house being constructed on Jenny Drive. There were 17 workers from Charlotte, Mich., at this project. The group volunteers one week each year at a different location. Everyone enjoyed a relaxing lunch under a tent before beginning new assignments in the afternoon.

  • Allegro advanced students attend Summer Intensive Program

  • Kelly speaks at Zonta meeting on Wesley Hilltop House

    Special guests at the June meeting of the Zonta Club of Heartland were Bill and Pam Kelly. Bill Kelly, chairman of the board of Wesley Hilltop House, gave a report on the progress of the organization. The programs for senior citizens are back in operation, and the plan is for the girls’ and youth programs to restart in August. A new director, Arnel Megino, has been hired, and the board is in the process of getting volunteers to help with the youth. The Zonta Club of Heartland has made donations in the past to the youth programs and plans to again when they are back in operation.

    Irwins celebrate 40th wedding anniversary

    Mr. and Mrs. Norman Irwin are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary today, June 21, 2009. They were married June 21, 1969, at Mount Zion Baptist Church by Brother Clyde Voyles.

    Mrs. Irwin is the former Rita Gaye Rainey, daughter of the late Robert L. “Bob” and Irene Rainey, and Mr. Irwin is the son of the late Bailey and Ada Irwin. They have three sons, Tommy of Vine Grove, Jared of Elizabethtown and Bobby of Crestwood. They also have eight grandchildren.

    Reeds win DAV drawing at Hooray for Heroes

    Ron and Sheryl Reed won the drawing sponsored by Disabled American Veterans Chapter 003 of Elizabethtown at the recent Hooray For Heroes event held in Radcliff. The Reeds are pictured receiving a Patriotic Eagle plate and Eagle business card holder from Commander Gary Rice.


  • Parents welcome Cay’den Joseph Eugene



    Jasmine and Desmond Gregory of Radcliff announce the birth of a son, Cay’den Joseph Eugene Gregory, on June 7, 2009, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces and was 19 inches long.

    Cay’den has a brother, Cam’ron Gregory of Radcliff.

    Grandparents are Yolanda Bradford and Stacey Bradford, both of Radcliff.
