    KEITH. Air Force Airman Billy J. Keith graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. A 2006 graduate of Central Hardin High School, he is the son of Rhonda and Willard Keith of Elizabethtown.

    Russell and Alpha Hack Knight are celebrating their 63rd wedding anniversary. They were married July 25, 1946 at Gretna Green Wedding Chapel in Yuma, Ariz., by the Rev. J.G. Anderson.


  • Parents welcome Kamdyn Porter McKina



    Kathryn Martin and Brandon McKina of Radcliff announce the birth of a son, Kamdyn Porter McKina, on June 17, 2009, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. He weighed 6 pounds, 3 ½ ounces and was 19 inches long.

    Grandparents are Rebecca Martin of Radcliff, Shawn Martin of Shelbyville and Julie and JP Morrow of Elizabethtown.

    Great-grandparents are Shirley Martin of Vine Grove and John and Iva Hinds of Radcliff.

  • Coopers celebrate 50th wedding anniversary


    Bob and Deedie Cooper of Vine Grove recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a dinner hosted by their children. They were married at St. Brigid Church on June 6, 1959, by the Rev. Anthony Zeigler. They are the parents of Susan Sears, Rob Cooper and Mary Young, and seven grandchildren.

    Major DeJuana Riat was welcomed by Radcliff Rotary Club President-elect Neil Atcher, left, at a recent meeting. Maj. Riat is an Army Health Care recruiter, a physician’s assistant and a flight surgeon with more than 18 years of service. She was a guest of Rotarian Charlie Fraley, right. Maj Riat explained the many educational, financial and life style advantages the Army offers as incentives for medical personnel.

      Effie Duvall of Morningview Gardens in Elizabethtown, originally from Cecilia, celebrated her 90th birthday on June 30, 2009. She has five children who were in attendance, Kenneth Duvall of Alexandria, Va., George Duvall of Elizabethtown, Margaret Duvall Flowers of Mount Washington and John Duvall of Show Low, Ariz.; several grandchildren; and great-granchildren.

  • Harper celebrates 91st birthday



    Nell Harper will celebrate her 91st birthday with a reception held by her family from 5 to 7 p.m., July 6, 2009, at Kensington Manor Nursing Home in Elizabethtown.

    She has three children, Shirley Johnson, Linda Caswell and Jimmy Harper; and nine grandchildren.

    All friends and relatives are invited to attend.

    The bride-to-be is a hairdresser at Hair Tech.

    The prospective groom is produce manager at Save-A-Lot.

    The wedding is at 2 p.m. Aug. 1, 2009, at the Brown-Pusey House, 128 N. Main St., Elizabethtown, followed by a reception.

    All friends and relatives are invited to attend. In lieu of a gift, the couple requests that those attending bring a dish to pass and share with other guests.
