  • Family announces birth of Ava Madison Higgs


    The family of Ava Madison Higgs announces her birth on Aug. 2, 2010, at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center. She weighed 8 pounds, 9.4 ounces and was 21½ inches long.

    Parents are Sara Elizabeth Ammons of Big Clifty and Delbert (D.J.) Higgs Jr. of Millwood.

  • Fulkersons celebrate 50th wedding anniversary



    L. Gale and Wanda Thompson Fulkerson celebrated their 50 th wedding anniversary on Aug. 13, 2010.

    They were married Aug. 13, 1960, at Sonora Baptist Church in Sonora.

    Mr. Fulkerson, a former teacher, retired from Central School Supply Company after 30 years as an educational marketing representative. He is now CEO of Volkert Enterprises.

    Mrs. Fulkerson was an elementary teacher in Kentucky for 40 years. She retired from Anderson County school system.

  • Stevens graduates from basic training

    STEVENS. Air Force Airman 1st Class Patrick D. Stevens graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. Stevens earned distinction as an honor graduate. A 2006 graduate of Hart County High School in Munfordville, he is the son of Shirly Stevens of Magnolia.

    Vonda Richardson and the Rev. Shayne Stockton, both of Elizabethtown, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Kay Headspeth of Elizabethtown and the late Amos Headspeth. She is a graduate of Western Kentucky University and is a first-grade teacher at Brandenburg Primary School.

    A new school year is upon us, and it’s a great time to join 4-H, the nation’s largest youth organization. 4-H offers experiential learning to youth ages 9 to 18 with something for all interests from insects to space to sewing. There are topics for all youths. By participating in 4-H, youths develop many essential life skills including responsibility, leadership and self-esteem.

  • Logsdon-Harrison


    Mr. and Mrs. Hayward Logsdon of Clarkson announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Iva R. Logsdon, to Marcus E. Harrison, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Marcus Harrison of Bardstown.

    The wedding is at 3 p.m. EST, Oct. 2, 2010, at Broadford Missionary Baptist Church.

    All friends and relatives are invited to attend.


  • Potted Few holds board meeting

    The administrative board of the Fort Knox Potted Few Garden Club met on Sept. 7 at the home of club President Renate Gosser. The Board made plans for the upcoming club year, the monthly meeting on Sept. 15, and a fundraiser called Play Days on Sept. 30. The Potted Few Club was established in 1976 at Fort Knox and joined the Federation of Garden Clubs in 1977.

    Cub Scout Pack 488 of Radcliff recently went hiking at Saunders Springs in Radcliff.


  • Hatfield and Hawk celebrate birthdays

    Eunice Hatfield and Betty Hawk, both of Upton, celebrated a birthday on Aug. 15 with a surprise party at the home of Carrie Logsdon in Eastview. Mrs. Hatfield turned 80; Mrs. Hawk turned 75.

    Mrs. Hatfield was married to the late Willard Hatfield and Betty was married to the late Aaron Hawk.

    Mrs. Hawk has one daughter, Kelly Logsdon of Eastview; one granddaughter; and four great-grandchildren.

    Forty-seven family members and friends were present.
