    HODGENVILLE — The LaRue County High School wrestling team is back on top in Region 2 – at least for now.

    LaRue County went undefeated in the first round of the Region 2 Duals on Friday and Saturday and had six wrestlers go 7-0 in the two-day duals at LaRue County.

  • Two Christmas meals planned for the needy



    ELIZABETHTOWN - For Barbara Grissom, planning a holiday meal that she hopes attracts 500 people is something she feels compelled to do this year.

    The death of a son about a year ago has driven Grissom and her husband to organize a Christmas Day meal at the National Guard Armory for those in need .

      Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10281 Commander Howard Hill recently presented a donation to Lee Brock a member of the MOAA pro-AM Invitational Golf Tournament. Proceeds from the tournament are used to assist in providing funds to purchase food and other necessities at Thanksgiving and Christmas for military families and to provide scholarships from local area high schools.

    Christmas Tea Committee members Diane Willis, president of the Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown, Betty Sue French and Maritza Johnson met with Dana Beth Lyddan, director of the Heritage Council to discuss plans for the 2008 tea from 2 to 4 p.m., Dec. 6 at the State Theater. Tickets will be available in November at the State Theater.

    Clorene Blanton Clorene Blanton, 90, of Elizabethtown, passed away Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at North Hardin Health and Rehab in Radcliff. She was a homemaker and a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin W. Blanton; her parents, Henry and Verna Vincent Meredith; and a sister, Alva Cox. She is survived by three sons, Richard Blanto
