  • Hall graduates from Navy basic training

    HALL. Navy Seaman Recruit Kenneth D. Hall, son of Robin Y. and Leslie C. Hall of Elizabethtown, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

    Hall is a 2007 graduate of John Hardin High School in Elizabethtown.


  • Master Gardeners hold February meeting

    On Feb. 22, the Lincoln Trail Area Masters Gardeners welcomed their guest speaker, Ben Cecil of Sunny Ray’s Nursery. Cecil’s presentation was on “Successful Landscaping in E’town.” The presentation was very informative and had the group wishing for spring. After the presentation, the Master Gardener meeting concentration on community concerns and the upcoming Plant Fair on May 15. Refreshments were furnished by Carol Persello and Yvonne Schilling.

    William Harrison Craig

    William Harrison Craig, 77, of Hardinsburg, passed away Friday, March 12, 2010, at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville.

    Mr. Craig was retired from A.A.F.E.S.

    He was preceded in death by his father, David Craig; and his mother, Sudie Jones Craig.

    Survivors include one daughter, Willena Sue Steffan, and her husband, Donnie, of Louisville; and one grandson, Chris Steffan of Louisville.

  • Reed celebrates 80th birthday


    Georgia Clark Reed will celebrate her 80th birthday with an open house reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 21, 2010, in the Fireside Room at Hodgenville First Baptist Church (located at back door of church), hosted by her children, Steve Reed, Kathy Cruse, Janet Williams, Donna Bishop and Mary Lou Newton.

    She was born Feb. 22, 1930.

    She has eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

    Area quilting guilds will celebrate National Quilting Day with a Quilters Day Out gathering from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 13 at InnPlace Hotel and Conference Center, 9700 Bluegrass Parkway, Louisville, the entrance is on Plantside Drive.

  • Rios graduates from basic training

    RIOS. Air Force Airman Fernando G. Rios Jr. graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.  2005 graduate of North Hardin High School in Radcliff, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fernando G. Rios of Radcliff.

    ELIZABETHTOWN – A vehicle pursuit that began with a driver refusing to stop for a law enforcement officer on Interstate 65 ended early Saturday morning when the suspect’s truck crashed 68 miles away in Metcalfe County.

  • Dulcimer players perform at club meeting

    A quintet of dulcimer players opened the Feb. 8 meeting of the Radcliff Woman’s Club. Playing the dulcimers and gospel music were the Tuesday Night Jammers, Jean Scheible, Margaret McCoy, Noah Janes, Mark Fox and Sheryl Pence. The group meets every Tuesday night at Vine Grove City Hall.
