    HARDIN COUNTY — High school students got a real-life civics lesson.

    Four local high schools participated Friday in Kids Voting, giving students a chance to cast their own vote for president in booths set up at the schools. The schools took the opportunity to teach about the electoral process and to discuss this particular election.

  • Fire damages Rineyville home

    RINEYVILLE

    Fire damages home

    A fire Saturday heavily damaged a home at 311 Rineyville-Big Spring Road.

    The blaze started in the kitchen and spread to the attic, Rineyville Assistant Chief Tim Wiseman said. Firefighters, who were called out shortly before 10 a.m., were able to keep the fire out of outer rooms and save personal belongings.

    Firefighters from the Radcliff, Central Hardin, Valley Creek and Vine Grove departments also responded.

    No injuries were reported.

    Two Hardin County schools finished in the top four Saturday night in the Class 5-A State Marching Band Championships.

    North Hardin High School placed third and John Hardin High School came in fourth at the Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium competition. Lexington’s Lafayette took the top spot with Paul Laurence Dunbar, also of Lexington, coming in second.
