    Businesses, organizations and individuals who make up local chambers of commerce are being asked to review a detailed and thorough concept to unify Hardin County’s primary advocates of business.

    A single, focused Hardin County Chamber of Commerce would seem to be an obvious and more effective way to manage limited resources.

  • Vine Grove raises more than $14,000

    Led by two Italian creme cakes selling for $1,000 each, Vine Grove raised in excess of $14,000, which will brighten the Christmas season for needy families.

    Most of the money was raised Thursday during a Town Hall meeting conducted at City Hall. Following a free chili supper, holiday musical entertainment and two award presentations, local auctioneers solicited bids for donated items, decorated Christmas trees and homemade desserts.

    The Radcliff Chamber of Commerce recently congratulated Navy Federal Credit Union on the opening of their new location in Radcliff at 137 E. Lincoln Trail Blvd.

    Cathy Williamson, Branch Manager for the Better Business Bureau presents an accreditation plaque to Dr. Elizabeth Sebree, M.D. FACOG. Dr. Sebree recently qualified to be an Accredited member of the Better Business Bureau. In order to be an accredited member of the BBB, business must meet the 15 standards for membership established by the Better Business Bureau.   • Parents welcome Mackenzie Kaye

    Randy and Kimberly Stillwell of Elizabethtown announce the birth of a daughter, Mackenzie Kaye Stillwell, on Sept. 9, 2010, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    Grandparents are Donnie and Debbie Dunn of Elizabethtown and Julie Stillwell of Eastview.

    Great-grandparents are Donald and Leona Morgan of Elizabethtown, Walter and Janet Stillwell of Eastview and Joe and Agnis Kipper of Big Clifty.

    Ashley Adine Nguyen and Alan Richard Scott were married Aug. 15, 2010, at First Presbyterian Church in Elizabethtown with the Rev. Rachel Scott Marshall officiating and invocation read by the Rev. Skip Dunford.

    The bride is the daughter of Christine Tran of Lexington.

    The groom is the son of Jess and Frances Scott of Elizabethtown.

    A reception was held at the church.

    Musical selections were played by Alice Mull, organist, and Peter McHugh, violinist. 

    The couple reside in Lexington.

    Samantha and Jason Vertrees of Elizabethtown announce the birth of a son, Cole Alexander Vertrees on Oct. 26, 2010, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He weighed 8 pounds 4 ounces and was 20.5 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Phyllis Brown and Allen Pence, both of Elizabethtown; and paternal grandparents Marlene Vertrees of Elizabethtown and the late Dale Vertrees.

    Great-grandparents are Virginia Reynolds, Christine Vertrees and Nora Higdon and the late Oris and Merl Reynolds, the late Charlie Pence, the late Wilbur Vertrees and the late Louis Higdon.
