    On behalf of all the associates of Sam’s Club Pharmacy, we would like to thank everyone who attended our “Diabetes Awareness Event” on June 12, for joining our fight against diabetes. We would like to especially thank Grant Graves from Life Scan for providing the free OneTouch blood sugar meters; Janie Burmester, our certified diabetes educator; Darlene Fred from Sleep Telemedicine Services; the office of Syed A. Khader, D.P.M.; and our Sam’s Club Optical team. Our event was a huge success thanks to your participation.

    Jeremy and Erin Hester of Vine Grove announce the birth of a son, Carson Anthony Hester on Dec. 29, 2008. He weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    He has a sister, Kaleigh Binkley.

    Grandparents are Charles and Carolyn Lovorn of Frankfort, Denise Hester of Vine Grove and Dennis Hester of High Plains.

    Great- grandparents are Charles and Gladys Clark of Elizabethtown and Roane and Sudie Lovorn of Atlanta.

  • Sister welcomes Alison Brooke

    Kaylee Jennifer announces the birth of a sister, Alison Brooke Lynch, on Dec. 20, 2008, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds, ½ ounce and was 19 inches long.

    Parents are Jeremy and Monica Lynch of Elizabethtown.

    Maternal grandparents are Wayne and Connie Napper of Cecilia, and paternal grandparents are Larry and Judy Lynch of Kenney, Ill., and Mike and Sherry Bryant of Madison, Ind.

  • Hornback retires from military

    Staff Sgt. Garrett M. Hornback entered the service on May 10, 1989. He served overseas in the Republic of Korea, combat tours in Southwest Asia and numerous stateside assignments.

    Staff Sgt. Hornback retires after more than 20 years of active federal service. His awards and decoration include: The Army Commendation Medal, Second OLC., and the Army Achievement Medal, Second OLC At the time of his retirement Staff Sgt. Hornback served as the S-2 NCOIC, Second Squadron, 16th Cavalry Regiment at Fort Knox.

    Breanna Shea announces the birth of a brother, Keelan Scott Ash, on April 4, 2009, at the family’s home. He weighed 9 pounds, 12 ounces and was 21 inches long.

    Parents are Craig and Faith Ash.

    Grandparents are Steve and Beverly Bunnell of Upton, Pat and Darrell Jones of Elizabethtown and Danny and Mary Jane Ash of Bardstown.

    Great-grandparents are Beverly Waters of Elizabethtown, Carl and Lola Doyle of Mount Washington and David and Shirley Bunnell of Lansing, Mich.

    Billy and Susan Willian of Elizabethtown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Angela Michelle Willian, to Lawrence Harold (Hal) Bender, son of Lawrence and Myra Bender of Central City.

    The bride-to-be is a graduate of Western Kentucky University and earned her Master’s Degree from Campbellsville University. She teaches at James T. Alton Middle School in Vine Grove.
