  • COIT of Kentucky named top franchise in the nation

    COIT Kentuckiana, provider of professional residential and commercial cleaning services was named “Franchise of the Year” at the annual COIT national convention in San Diego on March 19-22. The COIT Kentuckiana organization received multiple awards at the convention. Other awards for the Kentuckiana COIT Franchise included one for sales growth and achieving a 28 percent increase in revenue in the last fiscal year.

  • PREP BASEBALL/SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Meade beats North with bases-loaded walk, 2-1 (04/09)

    Senior Mikie DeRossett drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Meade County Green Wave to their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over visiting North Hardin on Wednesday.

    DeRossett also drove in the tying run with a double for Meade County, which snapped a five-game losing skid. Junior Jordan Amburgey added three singles, while freshman Bo Wilson and junior Andrew Oliver each singled.

    Obscured last week by the billowing clouds of economic despair was a bit of good news out of the nation’s capital:  Fewer people died on U.S. highways in 2008 than any year since 1961, when John F. Kennedy was president.

    Millions more vehicles are on the road today than there were then, speeding millions of more miles annually but yet, according to preliminary calculations, 37,313 people died in motor vehicle crashes last year, 9.1 percent lower than in 2007 when 41,059 died and the fewest since 1961 when there were 36,285 deaths.

  • Suspect's photo released by police

    RADCLIFF — Police have released a photo of a suspect in Sunday’s robbery of a Burger King restaurant.

    No arrests have been made since the early morning robbery and Radcliff police hope the photo may prompt tips as to the identity of the suspect.

    According to RPD spokesman Bryce Shumate the 5-foot-7 black male was armed with a large knife. He was seen near a blue-green car, wearing a dark jacket with a white furry lining in the hood and wearing a navy blue cap, Shumate said.

  • PREP SOFTBALL/BASEBALL ROUNDUP: John Hardin's Chancey just misses cycle; Central Hardin upsets Butler (04/08)

    Senior Autumn Chancey was a hit shy of the cycle, and the John Hardin Lady Bulldogs overcame three errors in the first inning to snap a five-game losing skid on Tuesday.

    Chancey went 4-for-4 with a homer, triple, two singles, two runs batted in and four runs scored to lead the visiting Lady Bulldogs to an 8-3 win over Bullitt Central.

    John Hardin led 3-0 after the top of the first, but committed three errors that led to three unearned runs in the bottom of the inning.
