  • Parents announce birth of Curtis


    Jessica Maurer and Matt Howell of Elizabethtown announce the birth of a son, Curtis Howell, on Oct. 13, 2009, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces and was 19½ inches long.

    Grandparents are Donna and Ed Andes and Janet and Roger Howell, all of Radcliff.

    Great-grandparents are Jane and Chester Dennis of Radcliff, Chester Howell of West Jefferson, N.C., and Helene Anthony of Villa Park, Ill.


  • Parents announce birth of Alli


    Mary Lou Brown and Nathan Young of Cecilia announce the birth of a daughter, Alli Elizabeth Young, on Oct. 24, 2009, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces and was 20.5 inches long.

    She has four sisters, Amy Boswell of Cecilia, Eva Boswell of Mackville and Kailyn and Alyssa Young, both of Hodgenville.

    Grandparents are Rose Dye and Tina Young, both of Hodgenville, and Jerry Young of New Haven. Stepgrandmother is Brenda Young of New Haven.


  • Optimist Club of Radcliff proclaims Youth Appreciation Week


    The Optimist Club of Radcliff proclaimed Nov. 8-14 as Youth Appreciation Week. An eventful week was planned for the children in the community. The program officially kicked off Nov. 10 with a Youth Recognition Ceremony at Colvin Community Center, where several students from local schools, who were chosen by their principals as exemplary students excelling in either arts, athletics, academics or community service work, were honored.

  • Erbele. Hines graduates from military training

    ERBELE. Army National Guard Pfc. Jonathan R. Erbele has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Knox. A 2009 graduate of Central Hardin High School, he is the son of  Melissa Erbele of Elizabethtown.

    Latrace Minerva Monique Muse and Marcus Jarvinski Hyche were married Sept. 19, 2009, in a private ceremony at Radcliff United Methodist Church.

    The bride is the daughter of Don and Irene Muse of Radcliff.

    The groom is the son of Glen and Cathy Hyche of Radcliff.

    A reception was held at the Leaders Club.

    The couple reside in Radcliff with their six-year-old daughter, Korrie, and their eight-month-old son, Marcus Jr.


  • Selph speaks at AM Rotary Club meeting

    The Hardin County AM Rotary met Nov. 20. Guest speaker was Krista Selph of the U.S. Army Accession Command Mission. She informed Rotary members about the Army’s recruiting objectives and goals, noting that their main objective is to make sure the Army can do what is needed without a draft. She said that the largest number of recruits come from the rural areas and the south. They do a lot of outreach with teens to help them make good choices that won’t limit what they can do in the future.

  • Sharon and Williamson speak at Rotary Club meeting

    Guest speakers for the Elizabethtown Rotary Club on Dec. 1 were Kay Sharon and Kathy Williamson. They spoke on Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, a Rotary training program for young people.

  • Duffs celebrate 60th wedding anniversary

    Isaac and Monica Duff will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Nov. 11, 2009.

    They were married Nov. 11, 1949 at St. Catherine Church in New Haven. They have five children: Dianne Atcher, Daniel Duff, Barbara Hornback, Janice Brown and Laura Watts; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.



    John Hardin High School Students Amanda Vuleta and Matt Simmons were student guests of the Elizabethtown Rotary Club at the Dec. 8 meeting.
