  • Noe graduates from basic training


    NOE. Army National Guard Pvt. Craig A. Noe has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. The son of Veronica Bigler of Vine Grove, he is a 2009 graduate of Meade County High School.

  • Hardin marching bands finish near top



    LOUISVILLE — Two high school marching bands from Hardin County placed closed to top in the state this past weekend at the Kentucky Music Educators Association finals.

    Elizabethtown High School  netted a second-place finish in the Class 2-A competition. It was their best showing since 1998, Director Mark Eck said.

    Karah LeAnne Milliner and Joseph “Jody” W. Carroll III were married Sept. 12, 2009, in Gatlinburg, Tenn.

    The bride is the daughter of Doug and Marcia Milliner of Big Clifty.

    The groom is the son of Joe Carroll and Sally Weatherington of Paducah.

    A reception is at 2 p.m. CDT, Oct. 11, 2009, at the Big Clifty Community Building.

    Student Spotlight: Amelia Cox has been selected as this week's student spotlight. She is a preschool student in Mrs. Tara's afternoon preschool class at Howevalley Elementary and is the daughter of Christine Cox of Cecilia. Amelia is a great student and has done a fantastic job transitioning to preschool. She is very friendly and is a wonderful friend to others in her classroom.Her hobbies include coloring and reading books.

    Naomi-Nicole Marian Helm of Elizabethtown and Captain Michael Geonzon Lupacchino Jr., of Fort Knox were married Oct. 1, 2009, in Oahu, Hawaii.

    The bride is the daughter of Noel E. Helm of Vine Grove and Audrey R. Jacques of Anchorage, Alaska.

    The groom is the son of Michael Lupacchino of East Hartford, Conn., and Sonia Barber of Stafford, Va.

    The couple reside in Elizabethtown.

    DAVIS. Army Pfc. Charles E. Davis II has graduated from One Sta-tion Unit Training (OSUT) at the U.S. Army Infantry School at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga. The training consisted of basic military training and advanced individual training (AIT). He is a 2000 graduate of LaRue County High School in Hodgenville.

     MILLER. Army National Guard Pvt. Jason A. Miller has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla. A 2001 graduate of Central Hardin High School in Elizabethtown, he is the grandson of Stella Souleyrette of Upton.

  • Pruitt wins quilt challenge

    The Stitchers Quilt Guild had a successful quilt show in September. There is always a quilt challenge for the show. This year’s challenge was “A Day at the Races.” The theme could be interpreted in any way. This year’s winner was Kelly Pruitt with her challenge quilt titled “We’re off to the races - The balloon races.”
