    BROCK. Army Pvt. David P. Brock has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. A 2009 graduate of North Hardin High School, he is the son of Becky Carpenter of  Radcliff and Matthew Brock of Vine Grove 

  • Classic Corvettes Kentucky Club makes donation

    Classic Corvettes Kentucky Club recently made a contribution to Hosparus. Bob Schramm, left, and Melvin Gregory, right, presented a check to Lisa Sanford, director of Development and Community Relations at Hosparus in Elizabethtown.

    Classic Corvettes Kentucky, located in Elizabethtown, is a club of local Corvette owners who enjoy meeting, driving their Corvettes both old and new. The club is open to all Corvette owners in the area and meets at 2 p.m., the second Sunday of the month at the Elizabethtown Airport.


  • Goldenrod Homemakers have auction to raise money for needy children

    The Goldenrod Homemakers Club met Oct. 13. Alice Bennett called the meeting to order, and Sue Logsdon had the homemakers answer roll call by telling what their favorite thing was about the fall season. Bonnie Miller gave the lesson on “Greening Your Home,” and Nadine Bush was the hostess.

    The club has a white elephant auction each October to raise money to buy Christmas presents for needy children. Sue Logsdon auctioned off each item to the highest bidder. The members enjoyed a potluck meal.

    Megan Locke and Victor Hardy Jr., both of Elizabethtown, were married Dec. 4, 2009, at the courthouse.

    The bride is the daughter of David and Dee Lock and Misty Showalters and David Botts.

    The groom is the son of Victor Sr. and Beth Hardy.

    The couple reside in Elizabethtown.

    Lesley Kegan Jenkins and Jeffrey Ian Tolle were married Oct. 31, 2009, in a sunset ceremony on Mexico Beach, Fla.

    The bride is the daughter of Kathy and Bill Jenkins of Mexico Beach, Fla., formerly of Elizabethtown.

    The groom is the son of Nancy and Kevin Tolle of Fort Thomas.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father.

    Matron of honor was Kwyn Comeforo of Lexington, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Elizabeth Steck of Louisville and Cara Tolle of Fort Thomas, sister-in-law of the groom.

  • Lee introduces domestic violence bill



    ELIZABETHTOWN — A local legislator is working to bring a broader understanding of domestic violence to Kentucky.

    Rep. Jimmie Lee, D-Elizabethtown, has introduced a bill in the Kentucky House of Representatives that proposes creating a database of domestic violence incidents, and giving law enforcement officers more training on domestic violence situations.

    House Bill 189 also includes violence in dating relationships along with cohabiting couples and married couples.

  • Retired teachers’ association welcomes Harbin

    More than 100 members of the Elizabethtown Hardin LaRue Retired Teachers’ Association met Nov. 19 at Severns Valley Baptist Church to hear a presentation by Gary Harbin, executive secretary of Teachers’ Retirement System of Kentucky.

    Ann Bennett, EHLRTA vice president, introduced him to the group.

  • Coke Club receives donation

    Joe Wilson, president of the Mid-South Coca-Cola Collector's Club, receives a check from the chairman of the Elizabethtown Tourism Commission, Chris Flanagan. The $1,200 was used to assist the club's advertising efforts for its Septemberfest event, which brought an estimated $29,250 into the local economy.
