  • Dowells celebrate 65th wedding anniversary




    Elra and Regina Dowell will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. on July 17, 2010, at the Family Life Center of Church of God of Prophecy, 2738 Ring Road, Elizabethtown.

    They were married July 16, 1945, in Hardinsburg. They had two children, Freddie and Linda, and have two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

    All friends and relatives are invited to the reception.

  • BOYS' PREP SOCCER PREVIEW: LaRue County (08/15)



    The LaRue County Hawks were quite dandy on defense last year, which propelled them to a dynamite season.

    Behind statistically the best defense in the 13-team region – the Hawks allowed less than 0.85 goals per game – LaRue County notched its first postseason win before finishing 11-4-4 with a loss to top-25 Bardstown Bethlehem in the 9th District Tournament semifinals.

    The bride is the daughter of Leland and Darlene Stokes of Radcliff.

    The groom is the son of Bart and Judy Crowley of Radcliff.

    Family and friends celebrated the couple’s wedding on June 11, 2010, at the home of the groom’s parents.

    After a wedding trip in Las Vegas the couple reside in Lexington.

    “Capitalizing on Cooperation” was the theme of the 2010 Kentucky Youth Seminar, KYS, held at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, and five local high school students did just that while gaining a positive experience at the state seminar for the American Private Enterprise System or better known as APES.
