Concerned about fate of the animals

The new policy concerning animals is a no win for the animals and the communities of Fort Knox and Hardin County. In the year 2013, all the stray cats and dogs taken in at the stray animal facility on Fort Knox were either reunited with their owners or adopted out, unless they were too ill to be adopted.

    Changes needed on Fiscal Court

Kudos to Mr. Jim Weise for his letter of July 23 regarding Doug Goodman and Mayor J.J. Duvall. I agree with his comments that Mr. Goodman should be replaced and also feel that Mr. Duvall has picked the wrong mentor.

Consider the record of both candidates

If you are into hypocrisy, then the results of the first debate between judge-executive Berry and Duvall indicate you are going to get more than your fill between now and November.

    Neighborhood issue influences his vote

    An unsustainable financial system

Did you know the U.S. Treasury (government) cannot print money? The writers of the Constitution had more sense than to allow them to do so. So the bankers and the U.S. government formed the Federal Reserve, a private entity that cannot be audited, but has printed some $70-80 trillion dollars.

Kentucky DUI laws need to be changed

To anyone concerned with protecting innocent travelers on Kentucky roadways, or to anyone who grieves over the Taylor and Harig families’ recent tragedies. We need to push for tougher laws for multiple DUI offenders and we need to do it now.

    Speaking up for sheriff candidate

Over the years, I have had several brief and incidental encounters with Harry Braxton, and have found him to be the kind of person I would very much like to have as a friend, despite the differences in our ages. I am much older than he, but have found him to be honorable, courteous and friendly.

    Concerned about Fort Knox’s future

When it was first announced the U.S. Army Armor School was moving to Fort Benning, Georgia, I wrote a letter to The News-Enterprise and said we would lose the Patton Museum and that with nothing unique about Fort Knox, it was in danger of closure during the next BRAC.

    Further explaining his position

The writer of the July 11 Opinion letter referring to my decision to not attend the Sept. 20 NAACP event at Fort Knox confirmed that I made the right decision. She politically twisted my very easy to understand explanation for not attending.
