Hardin County Judge-Executive Harry Berry insinuated in his letter that I own land where a proposed county government building might be constructed. I would like to assure the judge I do not own a square inch of property downtown. My main concern is not moving county offices from downtown but rather with Hardin Memorial Hospital, which I spent a lifetime helping to build.

On April 19, a local physician penned a column in The News-Enterprise criticizing Hardin Fiscal Court’s decision to move forward with the planning, design and engineering for a new county government facility and expansion and renovations programmed for Hardin Memorial Health.

Among the exaggerations is the debt he claims the county recently incurred or will incur if these projects come to fruition.

Senate fails on gun bill

The Manchin-Toomey legislation was easy, and smart and patriotic. Expanded background checks are the minimum of what this country should pass to protect our families and communities.

We must have a background check to volunteer in our child’s school. But we can go to a gun show and buy all the guns and ammunition we want with no background check. Why do we make it so easy?

Women will go to the polls at the next elections to change the Congress, one vote at a time.
