This much I know

I know: I want to go forward and not backward.

I know:  Health care is a great thing and  birth control and mammogram coverage should be afforded to all women

I know: The wealthy 1 percent should want to pay their fair share

I know:  Women deserve to make decisions regarding their bodies

I know: My vote will be going to re-elect President Barack Obama

Let Obama finish the job

‘Annie’ deserves an audience

Even after leaving “Annie Get Your Gun” at the Hardin County Schools Performing Arts Center at John Hardin High School,  the Irving Berlin music — and there was lots of it — still swirls around in your head. It’s hard not to hum “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” “You Can’t Get A Man With A Gun,” and “Doin’ What Comes Natur’lly,” because we all know these songs so well.

On civil rights

After reading a letter in Sept. 7’s edition of The News-Enterprise, I feel compelled to write this letter. The Sept. 7 letter promulgates the preposterous notion that the Democratic Party was and is against the civil rights movement. This letter is an insult to my intelligence, my memory, my moral convictions and my life’s experience.

Republicans want to break chains
I heard the comments from Vice President Joseph Biden in which he told a group of Americans that Mitt Romney and the Republican Party “wants to put y’all back in chains.” This was made in Virginia which was part of the Confederacy in which generations of black Americans lived and died in chains.
