I’d like to ramble a little in this letter. I watch “The Rant” segment daily on WHAS-11 News. Many valid, useful and informative points are brought out that people might not otherwise know. The TV station apparently feels the program is an asset to the community as it has been airing it for some years now.
The Kentucky legislature currently is considering a new tax scheme called LIFT. This is a local-option sales tax initiative that would allow the Chamber of Commerce, special interests and government entities to institute up to a 1 percent additional sales tax in a local area.
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.” This quote was the opening line of a letter to the editor on Wednesday, Jan. 7. I read the letter with increasing dismay, as it seemed to inflame the very discord the author was deploring.
