Words of support for sheriff nominee

I am writing to support my friend, Harry Braxton; whom I have known for 20 years, for sheriff of Hardin County. We first met when we both worked at the Directorate of Combat Developments at Fort Knox. Braxton was well respected by his peers for his patriotism, integrity, loyalty, professionalism and leadership.

Conservatives urged to back GOP nominee

For Tea Party Patriots and other conservatives who supported Matt Bevins, congratulations. You ran a hard-fought campaign in defense of conservative values.

    CHHS boosters seek facilities

As the end of May approaches, we face the true reality of yet another season without a permanent restroom facility for the Central Hardin girls’ fast-pitch softball program.

    Time to honor the military

Over the years May has become a time for honoring and remembering men and women who have served, or are serving, our nation. The month of May, which was designated as Military Appreciation Month in 1999 by Congress, includes Military Spouse Appreciation Day, Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day.

    Release details of EMS investigation

After reading the resignation of the EMS Director Ira Dyer, I was shocked, but not surprised, on his resignation after only one year as Hardin EMS director. His assistant, James Miller, was suspended and both put on paid leave during the internal investigation. Seems the investigation focused on fraudulent time sheets for pay.

    Do facts support statement?

The truth finally comes out about the condition of the courthouse, per Thursday’s article “Oldham: No concerns about courthouse condition.”

It seems there was no research conducted on the part of the current 7th District magistrate, Dwight Morgan, concerning why we needed a new courthouse or the condition of the existing H.B. Fife Courthouse before he voted to spend millions of taxpayers’ dollars on the new government building.

Neighboring states making gains in jobs

Not only have Tennessee and Indiana surpassed Kentucky in competition for employers and jobs, our neighbor Missouri has as well. A little research reveals that Toyota told the California governor a day before it announced plans to shift its headquarters to Texas and the same for Kentucky’s governor before they announced the move of jobs from Kentucky. Think about that.

Good things occur in LaRue, too

As a resident of LaRue County, I along with others have been embarrassed by the recent attention we have drawn in the media. I do understand the press has a responsibility to report such things and I also understand negative items are more interesting to the public.

    Recommending candidate to friends

I am writing to inform my area neighbors to vote for Kendrick Bryan for Hardin County magistrate of the 6th District on May 20.

Kendrick and I have been longtime friends. Throughout the years, getting to know Kendrick has been a privilege. He always has an ear ready to listen. No matter what it is I asked for, he was always there ready to assist in any way possible.

Son of former sheriff supports John Ward

I am the son of Ralph Baskett who was elected twice to be sheriff of Hardin County and later served 18 years as circuit court clerk.

I am writing this letter in support of John Ward who is a candidate for the position of Hardin County sheriff.
