In defense of Karen Sizemore, I think it was very unfair of Lowe’s to fire her for pursuing a shoplifting suspect. Karen had worked for Lowe’s for 18 years and these 18 years should account for something. I have to wonder if there were other motives for Lowe’s decision to fire her. Perhaps she had build up a lot of vacation time and other benefits and Lowe’s just figured it would be better for them financially to just fire the 55-year-old employee.

Now everyone knows it was ill conceived and is harming our weak economy.
Karen Sizemore (“Woman fired after chasing shoplifter,” Oct. 11) helped me a number of times in the tool department over the last year or so and not only was sweet as she could be, but extremely helpful. She took as much time as I needed to find the right tool at the right price.

If a school chooses to allow players to shake, then the school is responsible for anything that might happen. This policy was issued as a response to a few incidents of uncivil, unsportsmanlike behavior.
