    Toddlers and tantrums

As newborn children begin to move about, most parents employ strategies that protect the youngsters, those nearby and property. A simple and effective way to ward off trouble is removing objects that could be broken, thrown, eaten, etc., from the reach of curious hands.

    Vote no Tuesday

On Tuesday, voters in Elizabethtown will make an important decision regarding the future of the city. They can vote no in opposition of expansion of alcohol sales, or yes in favor of bars.

    God has been lost

Because of the massacre in Connecticut, we will be reeling with grief for a very long time. Twenty children and six adults snuffed out in seconds. Unspeakable.

However, we’ve killed 1 million babies this year; babies who never will get to the first grade in school. We have laws that say that’s our right. Laws that are an abomination to God.

    Cure the disease

Again we are faced with the senseless killing of innocent people, and for what reason?

Immediately in times like these, people start making rash statements about how such horrendous acts of violence can be stopped. Will gun control stop such violence? Will banning the sale of fertilizer prevent another Timothy McVeigh from building a bomb and blowing up a building and killing hundreds? Or will banning airplanes prevent another terrorist attack that could kill thousands?

    Stop the slaughter

Does anyone else fid it ironic that liberals who defend the right for a woman to kill her child at any stage of pregnancy are the greatest proponents of gun control?

Eighteen precent of all pregnancies in the U.S. end in abortion, according to the Centers for Disease Control. Approximately 55 million babies have been aborted since the Supreme Court’s Roe vs. Wade decision in 1973. Obamacare will force all taxpayers to pay for this slaughter.

    Law-abiding public must speak up

My heart goes out to all the people who lost loved ones in Connecticut. This is an awful thing to happen.

A few years ago I wrote about gun-free zones. Unfortunately, the prediction I made has come true. A lot of people are and have blamed the gun, but it was not the gun’s fault. A gun does not get up off the table and go and shoot people.

    Fiscal cliff climbing perspective

Has it ever occurred to anyone that the fiscal cliff everyone is talking about is not one we’re going to fall down, but rather, one that must be climbed? So, if those in charge would quit looking down and look up for a change, then maybe someone could figure out how to make a molehill out of a mountain. To those in Washington, I say, “It is your mountain — get over it, for our benefit.”

    Good people still exist

After moving here in 2006 to be near my 87-year-old mother, I purchased a modest home, then decided I would have a new home built and move my mother in with me.
